CORN COB
ABRASIVE
Granulated corn cob is used as a blasting abrasive because of its relatively inexpensive price and the tasks it is capable of performing. Cob is suited for applications that require little to no substrate alteration.
1014
1014 has the largest particle size of the three most common industrial corncob grades (1014, 1420 & 2040). All three products are used as media for tumbling and vibratory finishing of metal parts and the appropriate size is usually the one where the particles are small enough that they will not lodge in openings and cavities. Used as a pressure blast media, 1014 is the most aggressive of the three grades.
1420
1420 has the medium sized particles of the three most common industrial corncob grades (1014, 1420 & 2040). All three products are used as media for tumbling and vibratory finishing of metal parts and the appropriate size is usually the one where the particles are small enough that they will not lodge in openings and cavities. Used as a pressure blast media, 1420 is less aggressive than 1014 and more aggressive than 2040.
2040
2040 has the smallest particles of the three most common industrial corncob grades (1014, 1420 & 2040). All three products are used as media for tumbling and vibratory finishing of metal parts and as a pressure blast media.
4060
4060 has small and very uniformly sized particles and is also used as a high-pressure blast media and in particular for log homes where a very smooth surface profile is desired.
